In Quack and Waddle’s First Adventure, two young Mallard ducks visit the world outside their quiet lake to meet new friends and have new experiences. Waddle is a curious and daring duck and can hardly wait to explore but Quack, her cautious but faithful companion, is a little less eager to leave the safety of the lake. During their first adventure they are laughed at by a rabbit, attacked by a hawk, amazed by a possum, chased by a cat, outraged by a raccoon and befriended by a group of small birds in this new world that they explore. Like anyone who travels, they are happy to go home to their own world in the end but are better ducks for their experience. But beware Quack…Waddle is already busy planning her next adventure.

more details

Nancy Wagner and her brother, Stanley Sweatt, grew up on the East Coast but were relocated to California when their father was hired to work in Aerospace on the Apollo project in the 1960's and have been in California ever since. Nancy was initially an English major and took many creative writing classes with the intent of being a teacher but needed to work at an early age. After 10 years in advertising, working on and off with her brother, she returned to school to earn a Masters Degree in Research Psychology. But psychology jobs were scarce so both Stanley and Nancy continued their careers in advertising, using their writing and art skills. Nancy opened her own business in retail graphics in 1991. She was joined by her brother, Stanley who had become an expert in MAC computers and brought her company into the new era of computers. One summer day, a couple of ducks landed in Nancy's backyard and decided to stay for the summer. Every day when she looked out her window, Nancy thought about why they were there and soon the story of Quack and Waddle was born. Of course, her brother created the illustrations. We both hope you will enjoy the adventure of these two ducks.
